Fun Things to Do in Denver This Weekend

These are all your local must-hit food and music festivals, events, movies, markets, deals, and concerts to help you make the most of your weekend.

If your weekend plans don’t include a vampire ball, a rooftop beverage, and a plant and prosecco pairing, what are you even doing with your life? There are a lot of weird and wonderful spring happenings in Denver this weekend, including a rooftop bar opening, a fun Red Rocks show, a food and drink festival, and a beer 5K. There’s also a barbecue class and, depending on how the Friday night game goes, maybe a game seven in the Avs-Kraken playoff series. You know what to do.

Sunday, April 30, 8 pm to 2 am
Golden Triangle
Missing Halloween? Bring a little vampire into your life this weekend with The Church’s Arcane Vampire Ball. Dressing up is strongly encouraged, so dust off your best goth, Victorian, or fetish wear and make Dracula proud.
Cost: From $35

Friday, April 28, 7 pm
Morrison
Bands Sublime with Rome and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are bringing the ‘90s to Red Rocks Friday night. A little ska-punk and a little hip-hop, it’s sure to be a fun show to celebrate the return of outdoor concerts. See ya at the crossroads.
Cost: From $96

Saturday, April 29, 2 pm to 5 pm
MSU campus
If you like food, wine, and women, do we ever have the Saturday afternoon event for you. The Big Stir Festival honors Colorado’s culinary leaders, who just so happen to be female, with a day of food and beverage tastings and educational seminars (like the cheekily-named Crushin’ It wine seminar). It’s presented by the Colorado chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International, an international, philanthropic organization of women leaders in food, beverage, and hospitality.
Cost: From $65

Sunday, April 30
Downtown
We won’t know until Friday night whether the Avs need a game seven, but if they do, you’d better be there to power them through to the next round. Because you screaming and wearing that lucky shirt for the eighth consecutive day really does make a difference.
Cost: From $109

Friday, April 28 to Sunday, April 30
Downtown
Denver’s highest open-air rooftop bar is open for the season. Head up—way up—to the top of Le Meridien Denver Downtown for killer views and new cocktails like the Guava Daiquiri and the jalapeño, watermelon, and tequila-filled Summer Crush.
Cost: Free entry

Saturday, April 29, 10 am
Five Points
If you like to run and you like to drink beer, then you sound like, well, an average Coloradoan. Join your fellow average Coloradoans at the Woods Boss 5K, this weekend’s run in the Colorado Brewery Running Series. Complete the 5K-ish course and celebrate with a free beer at the finish.
Cost: From $35

Saturday, April 29, 4-6 p.m.
RiNo
Like plants? Like prosecco? This unlikely, but surely heroic, duo come together Saturday at The Red Barber’s Plants and Prosecco event. You’ll get a prosecco tasting along with the privilege of planting and taking home a variety of succulents from Reroot.
Cost: $40

Sunday, April 30, 12-3 p.m.
Sun Valley
Get summer ready at BrisketU from Backyard Pitmasters, a roaming barbecue class that sets up shop at local breweries and distilleries to teach attendees how to rub, smoke, and slice the perfect meat. Saturday’s class pops up at Strange Craft Beer Company, so you can pair your brisket with beer.
Cost: $149
