The Best Events Happening in Denver This Weekend

It’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend in the Mile High, and even though the parade’s been cancelled, drinking Irish whiskey and green beers while holed up at home is a recipe for stir craziness. While many of the weekend’s larger events are now a no-go, you can still get out of the house for some fun this weekend -- just remember to wash your hands, people. Comfort food abounds with a pizza party, a family style fried chicken dinner, or a poolside champagne party (yeah, champagne counts as comfort food). And you can still do some Irish-inspired celebrating at a 5k fun run and at the O’Everyone pop-up at Union Station. So let’s (responsibly) raise a glass to the Mile High spirit and cheers, Irish-style.

Taste whiskies from around the world

Friday, March 13
Four Seasons Denver
Hundreds of whiskies, and three and a half hours to taste them. That’s what you’ll get at Whiskies of the World (formerly called The Whisky Extravaganza), one of the largest whisky tasting events in the country. Meet distillers, taste the goods, and enjoy some light bites (‘cause no one wants you drinking on an empty stomach).
Cost: General admission is $100

Drink Genius Wizard at a special happy hour with Ratio Beerworks

Friday, March 13
The High Lonesome
If you haven’t tried the 2020 edition of Ratio’s Genius Wizard Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, this is your chance. It’ll be pouring from 4-7pm along with some other Ratio favorites like Silhouettes, their seasonal Raspberry Belgian Dark Ale, and their new flagship Juicy IPA, Sparks Fly.
Cost: Depends how many beers you drink

Celebrate Crush Pizza + Tap’s anniversary with free pizza and more

Friday, March 13 - Sunday, March 15
Crush Pizza + Tap
Is there anything better than a pizza party? How about a pizza party that lasts three days? Crush (formerly Denver Deep Dish) is celebrating its anniversary with a weekend of specials. On Friday, hit them up early to get slices on the house with the purchase of a drink (they’re giving away 250 total). On Saturday, kids can participate in a DIY pizza club while adults can try to take the heat at a spicy wing challenge at noon. They’ll also have free birthday cake Rice Krispies all day. Then on Sunday, swing by for bottomless drink specials and breakfast pizzas like the green eggs and ham pie.
Cost: Depends when you go and how much pie you eat

Celebrate St. Paddy’s at the O’Everyone pop-up pub

Friday, March 13 & Saturday, March 14
Union Station
Tullamore D.E.W. is coming to Denver with their St. Patrick’s day party for all. Step inside their pop-up pub where you can get a token for a drink, take a festive photos, and (maybe most importantly) score your own customized t-shirt featuring your last name, Irish-style. O’Smith? O’Johnson? O’Whatever!
Cost: Free to attend

Get into gardening mode at a seed swap

Saturday, March 14
Valdez-Perry Branch Library
The GrowHaus, a nonprofit that does great work to feed its underserved neighborhood in north Denver, is hosting its 10th annual seed swap. Stop by from 1-3pm to score some of the organic and heirloom seeds they’ll have available. There will also be a seed starting workshop at 1:30pm.
Cost: Free

Party on the pool terrace at Veuve Clicquot in the Snow

Saturday, March 14
Four Seasons Hotel Denver
Who says you actually have to spend a day on the slopes to enjoy the apres experience? This annual event is back for 2020: put on your best apres ski ensemble and head to the terrace for bubbles and music from DJ Manos. Plus everyone attending will be entered into a raffle for bottle service for four.
Cost: Free to attend but make sure to RSVP

Join the 5k St. Patrick’s Brew Run

Saturday, March 14
Breckenridge Brewery
Pre-game for St. Patrick’s weekend drinking at this dog and family friendly 5k. The course runs along the Mary Carter Greenway Trail so it’s a great excuse to get outside and soak in those early spring vibes. Then you can settle in at the brewery for beers, bites, and backyard games. And yes, you should wear green (duh).

Eat fried chicken at the kickoff of a new monthly Sunday Supper Club

Sunday, March 15

The space Morin, a trendy French restaurant, occupies used to be the home of Wazee Supper Club and they’re bringing that spirit back with a new monthly Sunday supper club meal. This weekend will be the first and the menu is loaded with comfort food. Dig into a family style meal of fried chicken, mac and cheese, pork rinds, cheddar biscuits, mashed potatoes, and much more including buttermilk pie for dessert.
