Oh hello, heat. The temperatures have definitely risen to peak Colorado summer status. While finding a cool, air-conditioned spot to hide out might be high on your priority list this weekend, there are some pretty tempting events that you should consider venturing out for. Check out the Clocktower Cabaret’s first shows back, see some live music at an intimate outdoor concert, or head to a drive-in showing of The Goonies. Whatever you do, keep it safe and don’t forget your mask (and sunscreen… you’re definitely gonna need sunscreen too).

It’s back.. .the Clocktower on the 16th Street Mall is officially opening back up for weekend shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Book your tickets ahead of time for a burlesque performance in this classic Denver landmark -- masks required.

See Paul DeHaven live at an intimate outdoor concert

Lost City Live: An Independent Music Recovery Showcase continues this week with a new lineup. Proceeds from the event will go to local artists and others in the Mile High music scene. Seating for the outdoor sets is extremely limited (44 guests per show) and will be socially distanced, and this Friday’s show features Paul DeHaven, formerly of Paper Bird, Heavy Diamond Ring, and Eye & the Arrow.
Cost: Tickets start at $50 for two-person seating (options are available for groups up to 6)

Have a cooking class date night “in Paris”

An actual summer trip to Paris is off the table, but dinner is still on at Stir where you can team up with your special someone for a French culinary journey. This hands-on class will walk you through five dishes including a bacon & onion tart and cornish game hen fricassee with peas & tarragon.

Goonies never say die and Denverites never give up on summer fun. Dick’s parking lot will be transformed into a massive drive-in for this special movie night. Bring along some snacks from home and come watch this '80s classic. This event is open to the public and no tickets are required so show up early, entry begins at 7pm and the show will start once it’s dark.

Shop local at the Cherry Creek Farmers Market

July marks the beginning of prime produce season in Colorado so this is an ideal weekend to hit up a farmers market. This one’s open every Saturday from 8am-1pm with produce, flowers, and other locally made culinary treats.
Cost: Free to attend -- free parking is also available

Visit with farm animals at a sanctuary tour

Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary
This sanctuary just outside of town in Henderson specializes in caring for rescued farm animals. They typically host open farm days, but in order to keep things safe and social-distancing compliant, they’re changing things up a bit this summer by offering small group tours. There are morning and evening options, and each will be capped at a limited number of guests. You’ll get an intimate tour of the farm and some quality time with goats, pigs, baby cows and lambs, and more.

Have a Korean Frasca dinner at home complete with virtual wine tasting

Known as one of the best restaurants in the state, the team at Frasca is giving you a new way to experience their award-winning hospitality. This week’s At Home with Kit features a Korean feast and wine pairing. Order by Friday, July 10 at 5:30pm to pick up on Sunday. Then use the private video link to follow along as you put together the meal and enjoy a virtual wine tasting with Carlin Karr and Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey.
