So we’re one week into 2021 and it’s looking pretty good so far, right Denver? Our restaurants got a little relief with indoor dining returning at 25% capacity in case you want to head out this weekend and hit up one of your local favorites for a bite and a drink before checking out some fun virtual and IRL events. The CARNE y ARENA at Stanley Marketplace is reopening, you can tour one of only ten sake breweries in the US, dance during a virtual silent disco for a good cause, and even learn a new skill like fractal wood burning or snowshoeing (‘cause let’s be real, you binged enough TV shows and movies in 2020, it’s time to change things up).

The Hanger at Stanley is the first stop on a world tour for CARNE y ARENA, an immersive virtual reality experience from the Academy Award winning director of films like Birdman and The Revenant. After a brief closure, it reopens this weekend, so grab tickets and go check out this unique, socially distanced experience.

Support COVID relief for the arts at a Stay Home Silent Disco

Get your dance moves and your headphones ready, ‘cause all you have to do to support local arts is tune in to this livestream. Choose from three channels featuring DJ sets from Sinistarr, Erin Stereo, and Boyhollow. A private donor is kicking in $1 for every view on each stream and that money will go to a different COVID and/or arts non-profit in Colorado depending on which channel you’re tuned in to.

Go on a sake brewery tour

Get a glimpse behind the scenes at how sake is made. The US is only home to 10 sake breweries and we’ve got one right here in the Mile High. The tour includes a look at the science and process of making sake plus a tasting of the goods.

So Many Roads Museum and Brewery

Do you love sugary flakes and cold milk in the morning? Then come gather with likeminded people at this spot that’s part brewery and part home to one of the largest public displays of Grateful Dead art and curiosities. The cereal festivities kick off at 8 am until noon.

Mueller State Park, Divide

Is snowshoeing your new 2021 outdoor project? If so, this outing is for you. Two volunteer naturalists will be leading this beginner level 2.5 mile trek. All you need to do is bring water, snacks, and your snowshoes. Then hang at the park after—it’s an ideal destination for winter sledding too.

Time to go back to school… well, baking academy. Love favorite for baked goodies Rebel Bread is launching a new series of online baking tutorials. It kicks off this weekend with their first edition, The Art of Tarts. Learn from expert baker Elana Berusch as she walks you through how to make a pat-in-the-pan crust and a pastry cream tart. Other upcoming classes will cover topics like sourdough, pierogi, and bagels.
