Everything You Must Do in Denver This Weekend

Take a break from it all.

While, like always, I’ve brought you this list of events happening in and around Denver, this is not a typical weekend. On Monday, our state once again experienced a mass shooting, and so many in our community are processing yet another tragedy and mourning the victims. Remember, as we move forward, to be kind to one another, support your friends and neighbors, and take a moment to show gratitude for our first responders who are also mourning the loss of a colleague. Be strong and safe out there, Colorado.

Dine on a throwback menu for Mizuna’s 20th anniversary

Restaurateur Frank Bonanno has brought Denver some of our favorite culinary staples, and it all started with his first eatery, Mizuna. Now his flagship restaurant is celebrating two decades of business, and you’ve got the chance to dine on dishes inspired by their very first menu. Prepaid reservations are required.

See live music as part of the Garageband series

MCA Denver
The Museum of Contemporary Art’s return to live music continues this weekend with Machu Linea ft. Rare Byrd$ & Kid Astronaut & The Nebula who will be playing in the parking garage across from the museum. Attendees will “see” the show from the museum’s rooftop. In addition to the live show, you can also stream it for free on the museum’s Facebook page.
Cost: The in-person event is $160 for a four person table; you can register for the virtual event for free

Shop and eat at the new Made By Us pop-up market

Friday, March 26 - Saturday, March 27
Fort Greene
After disturbing allegations against the founder of Night Market surfaced, the vendors of the pop-up series which became popular over 2020 have banded together to give the event a fresh start. Now being called Made By Us, the focus is on building a place created by a community of makers where you can find your new favorite… fill in the blank. Come check out the food, fashion, art, and more from 5 - 8 pm this Friday and Saturday.

Clyfford Still Museum
This weekend, the Clyfford Still museum reopens with their new exhibit, Stories We Tell: The Collection Two Ways. For opening weekend, they’ve also teamed up with Friends of Chamber music to offer you an enhanced experience with recorded excerpts from six composers that match the features themes and artworks. Just bring along your own smartphone and headphones to listen.
Cost: Included with museum admission which is $10 for non-member adults  

Experience the Future of Dessert at Denver’s most unique sweets shop

Saturday, March 27 - Sunday, March 28
The Inventing Room
This Willy Wonka-like shop where cotton candy glows in the dark and the Cheetos are super, super cold is reopening this weekend with a new way to experience their one of a kind creations. Your ticket includes a 30 minute demonstration where you’ll learn more about how these fantastical treats are made, sample some goodies and ice cream sundaes, and spend some time in the glow in the dark room.
Cost: $15 / person

Shop for locally made art at Open Wall

Saturday, March 27 - Thursday, April 1
Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art
This annual exhibition and art sale is back, with extended time to see the works and perhaps take home a new favorite piece. Featuring local, established, and emerging artists, all proceeds from the sales support Boulder’s art community and the museum.

Room for Milly

As March 2020 began, a new cocktail bar with luxe velvet touches and a unique backstory involving a fictional woman who lived in the 1920s opened. And then, well, we weren’t going out for cocktails anymore. But now, Room for Milly is making a comeback with it’s grand reopening this week. Reservations are recommended, so book now for a great excuse to actually get dressed up and sip on a drink you didn’t have to make with whatever booze is left in your home collection.
